FAQs
About Classes
Where are classes held?
Most classes are at our Columbus Circle office. Select programs are also offered online and at additional Manhattan locations.
Who teaches the classes?
Experienced and highly trained instructors, including midwives, nurses, childbirth educators, and doulas. Each instructor is handpicked and trained by the City Births team to ensure a judgment-free, evidence-based experience.
Are childbirth classes only for people planning an unmedicated birth?
No. Our classes support all birth preferences, including epidurals and planned or unplanned cesareans. You will learn your options so you can make informed decisions.
Do you show graphic birth videos?
We use slides and short clips chosen to be educational and supportive. They are not graphic. Our goal is to help you feel prepared and comfortable.
Do I need to bring anything to class?
Just yourself. We provide handouts and practice equipment. Wear comfortable clothing.
Can my partner or support person attend?
Yes. We encourage partners, spouses, or support people to attend so you feel prepared as a team.
When should I take childbirth classes?
We recommend enrolling between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy.
